The Playful Minds Lab is a team of researchers that studies children’s and adults’ play, with an emphasis on outdoor play. Our lab is led by Dr. Kimberly Squires and is based out of the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition at the University of Guelph.

We are grateful to live, work, learn, and play on the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, which is home to many past, present, and future First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. This Land is part of the Between the Lakes Treaty 3. We offer this land acknowledgement in an effort to refigure the presences of this Land. We have deep respect and gratitude for the original stewards of this Land and the way they lived, and continue to live, with the Land. As those working and researching with children, we understand the important opportunity and responsibility that we have to learn from and with children and to support our kinship with the Land. We are grateful for the Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers who have generously shared their wisdom and experiences with us.
